Finished Master Bedroom + Fabric Giveaway

By Kate Riley November 26, 2014

Midweek greetings friends!  This will be my last post this week since the next four days I’ll be focused on food and family! I was able to put the finishing touches on the master bedroom at the Las Vegas house this week, and I’m so happy with the result ~ I think it’s a nice balance of masculine and feminine, traditional and modern, layered neutrals coupled with navy and green accents.

I bought a pair of Oxford writing desks to use as nightstands, they’re higher and wider and offer plenty of room for lamps and reading material. The room is 16 feet wide so they help to fill the space under the windows on each side of the bed. The rug is inherited from Matt’s grandmother, the wall paint color is Quiet Light by Glidden.

It’s easy to get dehydrated here in the desert, so I couldn’t resist a pair of his and hers water glasses, they’re from HomeGoods and the tray is too.

The gray linen headboard is a Better Homes & Gardens product at Walmart. The navy sheets are from Bed, Bath and Beyond, the linen tufted bench I found at thrift store for $40, it was a brand new donation from a local furniture store and a total score! (Here’s a similar bench for more.) The navy lumbar pillow is from HomeGoods, the gray border duvet is from Crane & Canopy.

I really love this ceiling fan, I prefer fans with three instead of five blades and this one is the Minka Aire Koa Wood fan with a light and three speed settings, necessary for hot summer nights in the desert! I also purchased an 18″ downrod to extend the fan lower since the ceiling slopes up higher.

The Oxford writer’s desks come with a half shelf underneath, but I switched them around to provide for a full shelf on the left side and no shelf on the right, leaving room for a desk chair on that side.

It’s a great little spot for myself or a guest to work on a laptop. I painted the trim on the drawers for contrast and substituted brass ring pulls. The white fretwork chair is from Overstock, the gorgeous gold faceted lamps are from Lamps Plus.

The fabrics for the accent pillows and the window panels are from Online Fabric Store, with them I sewed basic rod pocket panels and followed these steps for the zippered 24″ accent pillow covers.
