Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley July 12, 2013

Hi all, what’s up for the weekend? I’m finishing up a final coat of paint on a dresser today and then hoping to take a trip to the coast to feel the sand between my toes tomorrow.

How perfect is this dining nook?  So sunny, so cheerful, and family friendly, I adore the painted chairs and happy mix of patterns on the window seat. I spied it over at The Design Files this week and fell in love with the whole house tour.

  1. Love your 20 questions answers! It’s fun to learn more about you, aside from your great taste and awesome DIY projects!

  2. Enjoyed the link for novel’s first lines… was sad to see my favorite excluded. Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy: “My wound is geography. It is also my anchorage, my port of call.”

Always love your blog- you document your projects so well. Thank you for sharing this gift with us all!

    • Oh there are TOO many great books to limit to just 100, right? I LOVE that quote Suzanne!

  3. Kate, I have followed your blog for several years. I believe you were at the Alameda Flea Market at the same I was when Eddie Ross was having one of his “tours”.

Love your answers. What fun. My granddaughter’s name is Amelie. I haven’t run across anyone else with that name (other than the French movie).

  5. This dining nook is more than perfect. Thanks for sharing this idea, I will definitely put it into practice:) I love reading and this is great for my hobby, my eyes are eager for natural light

  6. They didn’t include my favorite first line…”I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills”…Out of Africa, Isak Dinesen.

  7. Very smart and clever idea. The colored chairs make such a difference to the feel of the room. It looks expensive and arty.
