Hello everyone! I so appreciate your kind comments on Friday’s post about slowing down for summer, thank you! We entertained a crowd on Saturday and with a little help from some friends we had a really great time. Some friends helped with food, another with the Pandora playlist and speakers, my friend Heidi took pictures, and Matt and I played host and hostess at our house. It’s always nice when friends chip in to make a party a success! The theme was Summer Sangria and with some supplies from World Market, I set up a sangria bar and it was a big hit.
I cleaned off our potting bench we built last year and used it temporarily as a beverage station. Two apothecary jar dispensers held the sangria so guests could pour and add a spear of fruit.
I try to get everything done in advance when it comes to parties where we’re hosting a crowd, so I set up the bar a few hours before.
Just before the guests arrived, I mixed up two kinds of sangria, a white version and a red version, with equal parts wine and sparkling juice in two apothecary jar dispensers.
For those that don’t drink (or want to take a break from alcoholic beverages) we also provided carafes of sparkling soda in various flavors.

I LOVE WORLD MARKET! I haven’t been in a while because there is not one near my house, but I’d make the special trip if I won!
A gift card from World Market would come in handy. We are hosting a big party this weekend and I am still arranging everything in my head. We are bringing in “The Taco Man” who will make tacos to order. He is actually the cook at our favorite Mexican restaurant and they are doing the side too. I cheated and ordered cupcakes also. We are doing a wine tasting station and a beer tasting station. All I have to do is decorate and I’m using an easy beach theme so I didn’t have to go out and buy much.

I love the beverage set up station. Sangria has always been my favorite summer entertaining drink, particularly white wine sangria with fresca and peaches. Nice touch with the fruit skewers and non-alcoholic options as well. I love the dispensers. The one I have (different type, bought from Williams-Sonoma years ago) drips horribly. It looks pretty but functionally useless.

Fabulous party idea. When the temps are over 100 like they are here in Phoenix right now, cranking up our outdoor misters and pooring some icy cold cocktails is an absolute must. World Market outdoor accompaniments– bright cushions, cool andoraks, funky glassware, sparkly linens, refreshing beverages– are a must-have!

How did you know Cost Plus World Market was one of my favorite stores??? They have the most beautiful times, I love buying gifts for people there because they always feel more special. But I usually have to hold myself back, because if I had my way I’d buy the whole store and decorate my house with it! They have the best food too!

world market is a dangerous place……i could do serious damage there. i was just in there over the weekend and only came out with an outdoor rug, but my mental shopping cart was full. i just have this slight discrepancy between what i can afford and what i want in there. wow. i gave $4 to my granddaughter to spend on anything and all we did was walk into the store and she found her heart’s desire in the first few seconds we were in there. my daughter-in-law even ended up with a purchase that she had no idea she was going to make. i tell you…..you walk in the store and there’s all kinds of things in there that you didn’t realize you needed until you saw them. dangerous. very dangerous. and your outdoor potting bench/buffet thingy is genius, by the way.

I love the apothecary dispensers. Who else would have these, but World Market? I’ve been shopping there for years, in the San Francisco Taylor St. location and in LaQuinta and Palm Springs.

The sangria bar looks awesome, love the idea of fruit on a stick (I’ve spent too much time trying to stab sangria fruit with a straw to get it out of the glass!). Also just discovered World Mart while scrolling through all of the comments, looks amazing!
