One of the best things about writing about home improvement and design is how it recognizes how we are all emotionally attached to our homes and want it to be the best that it can be. I’ve partnered with HouseLogic and today we’re announcing the ‘Boost Your Roost’ home renovation contest!
We’re looking for homeowners that have a great idea for a home improvement project that will help you get the most enjoyment out of your home and also increase its value.
The ‘Boost Your Roost’ contest is all about enhancing life in the home. We’re looking for home projects that will help you better enjoy your home and the time you spend there with your family and friends, and the prize is a $20,000 home renovation!
What kind of improvement can you imagine for your home with an award of $20,000? Would you remodel an outdated kitchen or bath? Would you replace windows, doors, flooring, carpet, or light fixtures? Would you rework your floor plan, add wainscoting, spruce your basement, or make other architectural improvements? $20,000 could do a lot to improve the value of your home!
To enter the ‘Boost Your Roost’ Contest:
- Submit your name, email, phone number, and the location of your home
- Send at least 1 but no more than 5 photos of the area to be renovated
- Include a written description of the proposed renovation (300 words max), describing why your home improvement idea is important to you and how it will improve the quality of the time you spend in your home with family and friends.
- (optional) Include a drawing or a video of the proposed renovation
Send all submissions to [email protected] between June 20, 2012 and July 16, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The contest is restricted to homeowners within the continental US. The winner’s story will be documented in a video and photo series to be shared at HouseLogic.com after the contest ends. Six finalists will be showcased on HouseLogic.com and voting will occur between July 30 and August 13, 2012, and the winning homeowner will be awarded $20,000 in home renovation!

Oh Holy Smacks! I’m SO going to enter this contest! If I won, I could finally stop being afraid to go down the basement and my 17 an 20 year old sons would no longer need a rope tied around them before they ventured “below the grade”. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome..A new kitchen for my family to hang out in and enjoy would be a blessing..add a dish washer so we don’t hear.. I did them last time :) I have never had a dishwasher, and put dish’s away is another challenge, there is very little cupboard space (a new Island or more cupboards) I can only dream.

Three words…laminate counter tops! Oh yes, we’re talking the kitchen. Now, don’t get me wrong there are some things I love about my kitchen like the newer stainless appliances but the outdated kitchen tile and scratched cheap laminate counter tops leave me dreaming of something more. The deep red wall color has never been “ME” and I am simply in love with white cabinets and you guessed it, no white cabinets hanging in my kitchen at the moment. All you have to do is take one look at my Pinterest board “dream home” and you get the idea. Since I cook most everyday I think it’s time my kitchen reflects my sunnier side! The kitchen is just screaming…PLEASE DRESS ME UP! I PIN and PIN on Pinterest; clip pics from the mags but never is there enough moolah to bring any of those dreamy ideas to life. I just know House Logic and “Boost Your Roost” could add a little magic to my tiny Cinderella-type abode, transforming it into a castle fit for a Princess…and her Prince (I suppose I will let he and the kids hang out there as well). Fantabulous give-a-away!

Oh how I wish I would’ve known about this a week ago! We just got through painting our knotty pine kitchen walls this past week – what a chore! I still need new cabinets and flooring but it’s not in the budget right now. Oh well. I hope one of your readers wins!
