Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley December 4, 2015

It’s been so nice to be home and sleep in my own bed after all that traveling in November. When I first arrived home I wasn’t motivated at all to decorate, I preferred to just sit and enjoy the glow of the one tree I have up. I’m late to the holiday decorating party this year but today I am feeling the Christmas spirit. Tomorrow we will pick up a natural Christmas tree here in town and decorate gingerbread houses.

My younger sister and my brother have stayed with me these past few days so I’ve been occupied with cooking meals, setting the table, mixing drinks, and sharing stories. When I spend time with my siblings, we relive all the funny memories and the hours fly by. We don’t see each other as often as we like during the year, but sitting down to a meal together and pairing it with a good bottle of wine (or two or three) is truly one of the best things about this time of year.

  1. I love the list of things everyone should do for themselves once a year. I was expecting more superficial things (which are fine) but she really touched on some deeper, more meaningful ideas which are wonderful. Thank you for sharing this!

  2. Spending the holidays with your siblings brings one of the best feelings in the world! I haven’t decorated yet but I’m definitely feeling the Christmas spirit. Enjoy your family time!

  3. Great weekend reading, Kate!
The 26 things you should do for yourself, 25 acts of kindness and the video all highlight the things that I love most about the season. Togetherness, giving and refection.
    Happy Holidays, lady!
