Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley November 13, 2015

Greetings from abroad! This weekend we’re driving around New Zealand, making stops at several lakes as we make our way through the South Island. There will be water sports and wine tasting, this country is so beautiful it takes your breath away!

Back home I know you’re all preparing for Thanksgiving. We won’t be in the States for the holiday but my American cousin who lives in Gold Coast, Australia is hosting a casual friendsgiving style meal for us next week, how kind!

  1. So pleased you’re enjoying our country!! It is indeed beautiful and you’re going to see some of my favourite parts – we have a holiday cottage not far from the hydro lakes (you’ll go through Omarama which is not far from us). If you’re after classic kiwi treats then try L&P (soda), pineapple lumps (candy/lollies), Whittakers chocolate (there are some great new flavours) & Marmite (spread sparingly!!) Manuka honey, oh and meat pies and fish and chips. Queenstown is full of very good cafes, restaurants, wineries & spectacular scenery (and tourists), whereas Wanaka is a bit more Kiwi. Enjoying your photos on Instagram!

  2. I always love your weekend reading links. You always share some great reads I never would have come across on my own. Love the fall colors! I dream of touring New England in October some day!

The “Things I’d do differently” link is incorrect. You added an “h” in lane. But a great read once I found it. Happy travels!
