Fabric of the Month: Painted Paisley

By Kate Riley November 2, 2015

Hello, welcome to November! Today I’m sharing another fabric design I created, a twist on the classic paisley shape, the droplet pattern is a motif has been around for centuries. I’ve wanted to do a paisley print for some time but one that was not too traditional, this one combines a small scale floral element with painterly petals in a half drop repeat.

As always I love to have fun with styling, showing the print used different ways!

The Apricot colorway appears in the pretty linen napkin above, lovely on a fall table.

Here’s a look at the neutral Charcoal and sophisticated Indigo as pillows.

I would love to decorate a girl’s room with the Raspberry version – up close it combines blush pink with deeper coral and darker pink.

Finally, a peek at the Teal blue colorway styled as wallpaper – very fun in a home office!

The paisley droplet shape is designed with curling botanical stems arranged in a half drop repeat, each petal painted randomly with three different colors.

The print is available in 9 colorways: Aubergine, Slate, Sage, Apricot, Indigo, Charcoal, Raspberry, Brick (seen below) and also Teal (image above).

The Painted Paisley collection will be available for later today in my Spoonflower shop!

  1. Kate, now you really have tickled my interest as I love paisleys.Your creativity knows no bounds. More power to you!!

  2. I haven’t been able to see the images within this post and the previous two posts. The headline images appear as do the sidebar images. Only missing are the images within the posts. Guessing that it might be because I’m using Adblock on Firefox, I turned off Adblock and the images appear. This may have to do with how the page is coded. Just letting you know about this issue.

BTW, I love the color choices in these prints.

    • Thank you for letting me know Evelyn, we’re still working out a few kinks! I appreciate the feedback, so glad you like the new print!

  3. Love the raspberry, I am pregnant with first little girl, due in April and have been looking for something for her nursery. This may be exactly what I am needing.

  4. Kate, I love your new fabric design! I am redoing our guest room and I think raspberry curtains would be fun in there! Your Fall table looks lovely with the apricot napkins. I’ll pop over to your Spoonflower shop and order a yard so I can hold the raspberry up in our room.

  5. Will this be available as wallpaper too (right now it seems like it is only fabric). I am redoing my closet and I think this might be the one….. Thanks!

  6. Fantastic new fabric! It reminds me of the John Robshaw paisley but with a slightly more contemporary vibe.
Yet another beautiful addition to your fabrics! I may have to find an excuse to use it somewhere in my home!
