Hello friends! The renovation craziness continues this week, we’ve been driving all over this town in search of carpet and window installation quotes. One thing there is no shortage of in this town is shopping, oh my Las Vegas I love you for your abundance of selections… the trick is to narrow down what we’re looking for as quickly as possible to keep this project moving….. much to do! I’ll share more updates next week, so far the updates are progressing somewhat according to plan.
This weekend, Amanda and I bring you another round of our favorite projects spied out among the talented DIY community in the ‘Best of the Blogosphere’ series, tour a dining room remodel at Oh Happy Day.
Build a DIY Wingback Headboard with a step-by-step at All Things Thrifty.
Learn how to cover a wall with fabric (in this case a closet) with Young House Love.
Remake an ordinary dresser in the style of a map storage chest with materials and a tutorial by Kristine at The Painted Hive.
Make your own skinny marble top console with a supply list and how-to at Provident Home Design.
Craft natural citronella candles to prolong your outdoor enjoyment at Poppytalk.
Find more inspirational projects in the latest posts at Best of DIY. If you’d like your project or post considered for a feature, send it to [email protected].
Have a great summer weekend!

That dining room is gorgeous. Love the color of the fireplace with all of the white.
Great posts as usual. I missed the era of the house you’re redoing, but I’m wondering why you’re replacing the windows. If this is a “vintage” type house nothing can replace the look or even the Rfactor if used with storms. Obviously this doesn’t apply to a house that already has newer double-paned windows. Those need replacing every 10-15 years and then have to go to the dump. So much for the ecology of new windows.
The house is from 1989 Teresa, the windows are all aluminum and don’t have the modern UV protectants that we would look much better and save energy! But we’re learning just how expensive they are so we may have to wait until the budget allows for replacement down the road….
Thank you so much Kate and Amanda. Always a thrill to see my work featured on Centsational Girl :)
Thank you so much for including my headboard! xoxo! Thanks for making my day!!
If you are still shopping for a carpet contractor look for the Carpet King (downtown Las Vegas) and ask for Santa Claus (I can’t remember his name but he does the Santa thing on the side and he looks EXACTLY like Santa Claus). They did the carpet installation for my home and they were really good and very reasonable. You also get great quality. Good luck!!!
