Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley April 19, 2014

Ugh, the last 48 hours have been so emotionally draining. Between the sad passing of a family friend and more site security issues, I’m feeling so so worn out. I want to go into detail about what’s been happening with the site, it’s an awful thing and a very sophisticated attack but I’d bore you with the coding issues. I’ve got people who know a lot more than me helping me figure this out, I really appreciate your patience.

I’m trying to stay positive – at least my favorite viburnum bush is in bloom, and I look forward to the bouquets every April. The puffy blooms inspired a little vignette with some new watercolor art and favorite baubles from the past: sea floats and shells.

  1. Kate, the viburnum blooms are lovely (they are one of my faves too!) and I’m glad they’re managing to impart a little positive energy amidst what sounds like a draining time for you.

  2. Am so sorry for your loss. I, too, have had many losses this year, but through it all I have found great comfort in so many poems, Scripture, music, & being one with nature or outside. I especially like this poem by Anonymous and hope it may bring you peace: “In the garden of memory, we meet every day.” Warm, heartfelt prayers are being said for you today.
May you receive the many, many blessings that you so often give & share with others.

    • That is so lovely Debbie, thank you for sharing that, it warmed my heart!

  3. Kate, I am a huge fan of your blog and am very sorry to hear about your friend and the website attack. Sending you lot so of prayers and wishes for a much smoother spring and summer. Happy Easter.

    • How kind Lisa, thank you! It’s so very frustrating and I’ve spent 100 hours on this so far, ugh… I so appreciate your kind words!

    • Hi Jan, that is the Kichler mirror from Wayfair but I don’t see it for sale anymore over there! :(

  4. I’m so sorry for your loss and also the issues with the blog. You’re such a wonderful person I can’t imagine why anyone would target your site. I hope the issues get sorted out soon and you can move forward doing what you most love! (a little DIY is the best kind of therapy, wink!)

  5. Thank you Carrie, that is so sweet of you to say! It’s maddening dealing with it, but I’m not quitting! Sooner or later we’ll fix the issue :)

  6. So sorry for your loss, Kate and thanks for hanging in there with the site issues. We miss you in the meantime!

  7. Kate, I’m so sorry to hear about your sad news and the maddening events with the blog. I hope it can get resolved soon, and know that your fans will still be here for you!

  8. My condolences on the loss of your friend, Kate. I am also sorry about your security issues and hope you will find a lasting solution soon. I hope you and your family enjoyed a joyous Easter.

  9. Prayers and sympathy for your and your friend families.

I don’t know much about computers at all but for the last couple months every time I’d click to your blog my virus protector would pop and say, “this site isn’t safe and has been blocked”. I missed reading your post. Hope all the issues are stamped out soon! I don’t understand thieves and hackers!
May they end up with the fleas of a thousand camels. ;)

  10. Sorry for your loss and to hear about the site issues- what a pain. Loving the striped planters – and what a beautiful vignette!

  11. I love the flowers on table. Also found similar mirror Wildon home starburst on wayfair. Love your blog
