BOTB 7.5.13

By Kate Riley July 5, 2013

Hello hello, I hope you all had a happy Fourth! I read that so many friends on the east coast were hit with rain and festivities were canceled. :(  I’m so sorry.  We’re in Las Vegas at my parents’ house and the temperatures are 110 degrees in the shade, but we’ve spent most of our time taking dips in the pool to cool off.

Today it’s another Friday edition of ‘Best of the Blogosphere’ and I’m loving these refreshed spaces and inspiring ideas. We’ll kick it off with two fab bathroom makeovers, this first sophisticated gray & white bathroom completed by Kathryn Lemaster, don’t miss the before photos!

Next up, my friends Layla and Kevin worked some magic in their half bath, transforming it with a soothing palette with paneling, wallpaper, and a dresser vanity.

  1. The update on that first bathroom is amazing! I never thought I’d like grey as a wall color, but it sets off everything so perfectly in that narrow space.

  2. I love BOTB always, but I think this one may be the most applicable one yet. I just bought a wing chair that really needs some new fabric. A dog is about to join our family, and I have the supplies at home to sew two beds. And my husband is off work for the summer and I was planning on giving him a hammock… and half wondering if I could make one. Now I know how. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

  3. Kate-
I’m beyond thrilled my Dyed Salt Water Sandals are featured with
    these great rooms and projects!

    Thank you so much!

  4. Oh my goodness, we are in Vegas too!! Brought our son out here to celebrate his 21st birthday!! Yes, it is very hot! The heat is bearable during the day because we are in the pools, but at night, walking on the strip…..wow, it is hot!

  5. Thanks so much for the feature! We are on vaca at Cape Cod and I haven’t been on my site all day and just took a peak and my traffic went crazy today :) I looked and it was b/c of little o’l you :) Thanks rockstar! xo

  6. I adore these photos! I would love to visit Sandra’s blog. Anyway, thanks for the link. I love the tutorial for the reupholstering a wingback chair. :-)

  7. Kate, I love both your sites, but please add a “NEW” section in Best of DIY, because I visit it regularly and need a place to see only the new ones and not check every category one by one. I believe it will be very helpful to everyone else as well :))

  8. Hi Kate! tried to connect to your dyi page for delightful twinkle sign and could not find it on the that blog. is there a search bar there yet? thanks!

  9. Dear Kate,
You never cease to intrigue me with your finds and post. No Sew re-upholstery, who would have thought… in the chaos of a busy day, your posts always are a bit of sunshine and inspiration.
    Thank you.

  10. Wow! These are great makeovers. I love the sophisticated gray and white bathroom. This is my new inspiration. I wish I can turn my bathroom beautiful like that.

  11. Sounds like your having some hot weather in Vegas. These makeovers look amazing too – really like the balloons too.

  12. Great DIY ideas. I am always looking for ideas for simple home projects. Thanks for the link for the Two-Tone Sail Rope Hammock.
