Happy Monday to you all out there! We’re still hanging out in Las Vegas with my folks and my sister and her husband sharing some fun times – there have been some Elvis sightings including this dude at the airport!
We prepared a mini Thanksgiving feast since we won’t be together on Thanksgiving Day, and I set a festive table in my Mom’s dining room. It’s a combination of plates and napkins she has had for years and some leaf clippings from her yard. I love all the warm tones together and the mustard yellow accents. Here are a few scenes from my Mom’s dining room!
We used her linen napkins as placemats and her white plate set that she picked up at Pier One a few years ago. Mustard napkins and leaves in yellow rustic ceramic containers bring color, and for fun I added some decorative wood balls that look like shaved pinecones.
I just love Thanksgiving, the food, the family get togethers, and this year we get two! After dinner we played this Apples to Apples game for a few hours and it’s a total crack up – especially if your family is made up of a crazy cast of characters like ours…
I’ll be home tomorrow and back to work – wishing you all an enjoyable day off!
.
It looks like your mom has great taste too. Enjoy the time off!
thanks for sharing this, what a truly lovely table. so elegant and warm.
glad you’re having a great time with your family :-)
Mama’s table looks lovely. Is there a source for those awesome pinecone-ball-things? I love them!
Hi LA, those round wood balls that look like shaved pinecones are from HomeGoods!
Kate
Love the simplicity of this! Those wood pinecones are amazing! Also, Apples to Apples is one of my favorite family games. It just doesn’t get better than that!
Looks great! I love the tones and how they work together so fabulously with the room! Hope you have a safe flight home!
FYI- I think your RSS feed is on the fritz!
Beautiful table. We play Apples to Apples and we have some crazy characters here. Love your “Elvis” shot. Coat looks very nice!
Very pretty…..where is her table and chairs from??? I’ve been looking for something similiar.
Hi Vali, her set is by Drexel Heritage, it’s the Tuscany collection – she bought it ten years ago, not sure if they carry it anymore!
Kate
I am a sucker for a beautifully designed table. Plus, we will be in Vegas for our actual Thanksgiving!
Kate,
this unrelated to your mom’s table, which btw is great. Recently you wrote a post, where you had rugs – several of them side by side, small pictures with prices and source links. I liked one of them and for the life of me can’t find the post as my bookmark has disappeared (those computer elves!!!). Any idea which post it was?
Jitka
Hi Jitka, that was this post:

Apples to Apples is one of my favorites. What other game is entertaining for such a wide range of ages?
This is random, but I came across a post of yours from a few years back, where you visited a thrift store, snapped photos of furniture and described how you would bring them new life…if you had time and a magic wand to do it all. Anyway, those posts were some of my favorites. Every time I go into a thrift store, in my head I think, “How would Kate fix this?” and you’ve helped me to see things with new eyes.
Anyway…I’ve always loved your thrift store rescue posts. If you ever have the crazy urge to do more of them, please do, they are ever so fun to ponder.
Great idea Kathy, I’ll try to do another soon!
Kate
Such a pretty table. I bet your parents’ home is lovely! Sounds like a fun get-together…maybe we’ll have to do a game after dinner this year. I think it will be just my in-laws over for dinner.
Have a wonderful time with your family………..mine will be all together for Christmas this year hooray,, I just may look into getting that game, always fun to try a new one…..thanks for the idea !!!
All the best,
Kathy :)
ps the table looks wonderful…………….
I’m still not receiving your blog. I must type in Centsational Girl to access it, and it’s always for the previous day. Any ideas?
Love the simplicity and rustic look of your mother’s table decor. Cant believe Thanksgivibg is next week!!

So, obviously, Like Mother Like Daughter! Your mom is apparently a woman of excellent taste and style–that table looks wonderful. I was just about to ask what the decorative balls on each plate were when I read a little more carefully and saw that you’d already answered that question. Perfect look for fall!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Lovely simple set-up Kate! I love how you used the leaves, for me, really made this set-up work so well. But I know, it’s the people who shared this meal together is really what pulls this all together!
Positively wonderful colors. Reminds me to step out of my comfort zone of the typical “thanksgiving colors” and try something new! I think I will step outside tomorrow and try to gather some branches!
Those pinecone balls are so COOL!
Gorgeous! I love all of the natural elements that were brought in using the plants, pumpkins and pinecones!
Love the table! I’m starting to get things ready now for our big family gathering next week. Your post has inspired me :)
Your moms table looks great and I love pinecones! I like her dining chairs also :)
Beautiful – I love those pinecones!
Beautiful tablescape! Love the “pinecones”! Great job.
