There is little that’s more miserable than battling with an infected computer, gah. Oh the time and energy wasted, and shaking of fists in the air! I cannot wait to pick up my new (wicked fast) computer later today and get back to business. Many thanks to all of you for commiserating with your tales of hard drive failure, I feel much less alone in my frustration.
The post I was trying to write before my computer was sabotaged was a simple invitation. I came up with this idea when I was jogging through my neighborhood the other day. I realized there are so many quirky little things I’ve come to love about my town, and no doubt you have your favorite things too. That’s what I love about the blogosphere and our community – it’s reading and being inspired by what all of you have to say. I imagined a day where we all share the best things about where we live, sound fun?
So let’s have a party! It’s a ‘favorite things in my town’ kind of party. No need to live in a small town though, you big city peeps need to give us the scoop too! Where are the coolest places to go? This is your opportunity to photograph and write about a few of the favorite things you see from day to day that make your world a better place. Show us that building you love, or wraparound porch on the house around the corner, the best place for java, tastiest spot for lunch, or a store in your town with amazing finds.
You’re invited to share your favorite things about where you live!
Won’t you join me?
It’s right here, next Wednesday. One week from today. August 31st !
I hope you’ll link up with a post about your favorite things in your town. And if you’re the mom of little ones still in car seats, the drive thru Starbucks totally counts.
.
Great idea! Looking forward to it :)
Ooh, sounds like fun! I’m looking forward to it! xoxo
I know I’ll be shooting houses with the most curb appeal.
Morning Kate,
August 31st…that’s my birthday!!!!! Fun present to myself…party with you ;->

Oh this will be fun!
What a fun idea!! I live in a very, very historic VA town as well. I wonder if I can photograph stuff without giving away the town name?? Hmm…At the very least, I can take a picture of my drive-thru Starbucks, b/c it is a national treasure for sure!!!
Sounds fun! Looking forward to partying with you Kate =)
I actually started a similar project on my blog. Every Friday I write about something I love about my town. I call it Charleston adora[tion]. I’ve only been doing it for a few weeks, and I set rules for myself, like I have to visit the place during the same week I write about it. It’s a great excuse for getting out and about to enjoy the city! Here’s my first week’s post… http://www.bungalow54.com/2011/07/charleston-adoration-july-29.html
What a great idea! Sounds like a fun party, I’ll be back for sure! :)
That’s so funny you said the drive thru SB! I was like…all I see are the drivethrus! Bank, dry cleaners, coffee, pharmacy……haha!
Thanks for checking out my post! I’ll be sure to link up next week, looking forward to seeing all the responses! And of course I love reading your blog!
Yay! How fun. : )
Oh Em Gee! How fun is this gonna be! I can’t wait to see all the cool stuff! :)
What a great idea! I love sharing things about my city. Can’t wait to link up next week!!
Oh, I want to join this but I’m new to my area! So I’m just going to cross my fingers that someone close to where I live posts about some really cool places to visit! :)
From my mega church I can almost see Trader Joe’s, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Dean and DeLuca. Is this a “God Thing”?? Was this part of His great plan for the world??
Oh, sounds like fun! I’ll be there!
This sounds so fun! My husband and I have the weekend off together and were planning on staying around town. I might just have to put together a post of things to do here in our town!!
Thanks for the inspiration!
-Kelsey :)
Awesome! SoCal has so much to offer, hmmm what will I share? Maybe the dog beach? :)
What a fun idea! I love my small town and will be happy to show it off.
My last 2 laptops have crashed at almost the 2 year mark. I just now plan to buy a new one when it happens. Luckily, there is a guy here in town that has been able to take my files off the dead ones. This sounds like a great idea for a party!
That’s so great!! I actually just started a {tiny} link party called This is {Wherever} Wednesday. I just moved to the Caribbean where my husband is a student and as you can imagine, things are wayyyyy different here in both good and bad ways. So, I started this link up to help me remember for myself my time here but also to hear about where other people live. So far, it’s been really fun!
You can read the explanation of the party here: http://www.budgetblonde.com/2011/08/this-is-wherever-wednesday-linky-party.html
And the second partay is up and running right now here: http://www.budgetblonde.com/2011/08/this-is-wherever-wednesday-linky-party_24.html
I can’t wait to join yours next week, Kate!!!
This sounds awesome! How long will the link party be up? I usually post my writing(s) on Thursdays. But, I can adjust according if it’s only a one day link party.
I will totally participate. My regular Wednesday column is Weight Loss Wednesday, so I will be talking about something awesome from a weight loss perspective.
I had computer woes this week, too. I think I’m finally waving the white flag of surrender after backing up to an external drive, restoring the hard drive (circa 2005 computer!), and trying to get everything back the way it was. It has been one extremely frustrating and stressful week!
Looking forward to this. We just moved to a new area of town and my kids helped me take photos all day yesterday :) Will definitely link up on Wednesday!
We’re in Austin, so I have TONS to share!
Oh, what fun!! Dang…better get busy!
Yeah!! I was looking for something fun to do this week. I’ll grab the camera & send the kids on a photo hunt of the neighborhood tomorrow, should be lots of fun. Great idea!
Looking forward to hearing all about all your towns…I need to move because I hate where I live and I am all alone; this will be so helpful for me to look at new places and figure out where it would be best when you have to start all over again.
Great idea! I have so many fun places here!
