Oh happy day, so glad it’s Friday! I took a brisk walk this morning to clear the cobwebs after dropping my kids off at school. This fall day could not be any more lovely, with bright blue skies, a gentle breeze, and turning leaves rustling in the trees. I plan to spend most of this weekend outdoors enjoying this autumn weather. The semi annual Antique Fair is also this weekend, so I’ll be browsing that just for fun.
This is the perfect time of year for crafting with fall leaves. If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive project, take a peek at these creations from last year.
1. autumn leaves windcatcher; 2. fall leaves on canvas, 3. thankful banner.
Here’s a few more weekend craft ideas to bring the feel of fall into your home with leaves:
Use double sided tape to adorn basic hurricanes
Fashion a wreath with fresh clippings
Fill a rustic or galvanized container with branches
Set a table with some colorful garland
Fill a hurricane with a candle and freshly fallen leaves
Layer bundles of branches on your porch
Drape a simple garland along a table, mantel, or edge of a counter
Learn how to preserve leaves in wax and then make a mobile to rustle in the breeze
Suspend them from your dining room chandelier . . .
Display some fall color above your mantel
Or learn how to press leaves here
Then frame them on your wall.

Here’s an impromptu linky party for those of you like me who can’t get enough of decorating with those autumn leaves! Link party active through Monday September 27th.
Before I forget, there’s an interview with me over at Pepper Design, be sure to pop on over and say hello!
Happy Autumn Weekend ~ now let’s get to linking!
I love all these ideas using fall leaves! My favorite is the chandelier!
I am in love with Fall. Thanks for sharing!
I love fall colors. Great ideas here and very inspiring! I’m ready to set my decors this weekend!
those are lovely!! i definitely want to use some of these ideas!
too bad it’s still blazing hot here in georgia! no colorful leaves yet …
Love the Fall Hurricane with Candle & Leaves! Thanks for sharing :’)
I love you leaf ideas! thanks for posting!
Nothing like a little linky party to get me off my behind and get me into some fall decor:) Let’s see what I can come up with this weekend!
I love all these great ideas for Fall leaves. Have a great weekend!
What great ideas…I love them and will possibly try a few out this weekend! :)
So many wonderful fall ideas here! My favorite time of year. I am already making plans for Halloween and how I will decorate. Have fun!
Wow! What a beautiful display of fall color! Very inspiring:) thank you!
Kate, what a fun idea for an impromptu party!
I love the things you’ve done with leaves. I am so grateful for autumn leaves–we have some leaves starting to turn, and I trust that these are a harbinger of cooler weather to come! I made a swag for my front door from magnolia leaves, so I linked that up.
Yesterday I needed a gift bag and didn’t have one on hand that I particularly liked–so I took a plain brown Kraft paper bag and hot-glued on a few of those preserved leaves you find at craft stores. (I’m not sure what they’re made of, but they look so real!) Anyway, it made a lovely presentation for an autumn gift.
Glad you had a good trip to NYC. Now have a wonderful weekend in sunny CA!
I love the tutorial on pressing leaves…the mantle picture is pretty too!
Ahh thanks for the party Kate! Everyone loves Fall!
We get very few fall leaves here, but oh how I remember making those wax leaves when I was younger! They’re gorgeous in the light.
Great ideas! I love the idea to frame leaves.
Kate, I came back a second time and added a link to my autumn leaf pillows. . . they’re not made with real leaves, of course, but they are salient to this theme, so I hope that’s okay. Thank you for the chance to link–it means a lot for a little blog like mine to get even a thumbnail of exposure here.
Take care and have a great weekend!
Such pretty ideas. My leaves aren’t changing quite yet, but when they do…I love to bring them in the house just for the added color.
Even though it’s 90 degrees outside today, I ‘m truly in the mood for fall. I was so inspired by your post today. I recently moved from Florida, where fall never happened, I’m ready to change some things up in my home. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love your blog,
-AVS
I love Fall! You have some great inspiration here, Kate! I hope to start my decorating tomorrow. I’ll be going to the Antique Fair in Petaluma on Sunday! Maybe I could meet you and say hello in person!
Hi Kate! Thank you so much for hosting this party! I love looking at all the inspirational ideas! Have a great weekend! Angie xo
Hi Kate,
This is my favorite season. I’m definitely going to check out your link above on preserving leaves in wax. They’re just gorgeous.
I think we’re sort of neighbors. I live in the East Bay and pass through your neck of the woods on the way to visit my Mom up in Lake County.
Happy Fall!
It’s not my link to add…
….but I saw these beautiful leaf masks and thought of your post.
I love your site :) Truly inspiring.
I’m at the opposite end ( spring) but only just getting any blooms to put around the house. twigs, leaves even grasses of different colours and textures always look great in a clear bottle or vase because they add colour that we dont expect. Autumn leaves are special though…enjoy! cheers kari
Fall is my favorite. I especially love that thankful banner. Now, if I only I had a mantle to put it on, I’d be set…
Hi Kate,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while and I find you so inspiring :) I think since I’ve started reading it, I’ve spray painted about half of everything in my house white LOL;)
Anyways, I just have a question about all your fall leaves decor. If you use real leaves, won’t they shrivel up and lose their colour pretty fast? Or do you use silk leaves from a craft store?
All fabulous ideas:) Now we just need the leaves to change!!
I love all of the looks of these projects, cant wait to take some time today and sit and visit all of the participants. I love fall and all projects that bring fall into the home.
Great inspiration! Love the garland you made last year.
Londen
Kate…lovely pictures and inspiring ideas! Way to make me get off my duff and blog on Saturday just I could participate in your party! ;)
have a great weekend!
xo, cass
What is the etiquette on posting things like this to more than one linky party? I wanted to participate, but the only Autumn decor I’ve done is my wreath, which I linked up elsewhere…
What great ideas! but for me I´ll do them in my home next year ´couse here is spring!
congrats so far away!
xoxo
oh, fall! if only it felt like it! so glad you had this link party-i could look at fall projects and inspirations all day!
Love this!!! Great party – I wish I could sit and browse these all day!
Beautiful inspiration photos!! Especially loving the canvas leaf project!
I can’t wait for the leaves to change! These are all great ideas for decorating with the natural beauty of nature. Thanks for the chance to link up!
Anything inside a hurricane lantern is beautifullll!
Kate – I love fall inspiration. It’s still 90 here, so it’s hard to decorate for fall yet, but I know I need to get on it. I added a link with a twist…not quite your typical leaf decor, but inspired by special leaves, none the less. So fun to read about your NYC trip. :)
Beautiful inspiration! We don’t have fall leaves to press here in San Diego but I must hunt some down for decorating…
Thank you again for the wonderful interview!
Very inspirational! I missed the link party, but here is a link to some pressed leaves I framed:

Hi Kate! Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a fabulous day!! I want to thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a sweet comment! You are such a kind person, and when I know that you have several thousand readers, it means a lot to me that you would take the time to visit and leave a comment! I am glad you liked my home tour…that’s a real compliment since your home is so gorgeous! Have a great Monday!! Angie xo
Your autumn leaf decorating ideas are gorgeous… kind of makes me wish I didn’t live in south Florida this time of year where the tropical flowers are still in bloom and the palm trees are always green. I think I need to go to the beach tomorrow as an antidote for being so wistful for your lovely wine country Fall!!! I’ll just have to celebrate the season vicariously! :)
What fabulous creativity over here. It’s wonderful how Mother Nature provides us with such inspiring material.
Beautiful!!
