Perhaps you saw my tweet a few days ago where I mentioned the peacock feathers I purchased at Pier One. J’adore les plumes de paon. They’re an exotic, distinctive ornament – there is no mistaking it. But like any animal print, one must exercise restraint. Less is always more.
I have long been in love with the color peacock blue. Deeper than turquoise, fairer than indigo. It is bold by day, sultry by night. Paired with cream and golden bronze tones, it makes a daring design statement. So please indulge me in my latest fixation.
Where to begin?

You see, I am not the only one smitten with this hue of blue! How about you?
Beautiful. I love those colors. Seeing all those ideas makes me want to completely re-do my Master bedroom.
perfect! yesterday I got another box of the china my mother in law bought her son 25 years ago (he's 27 by the way…). Now Gold is taking over around here – something that doesn't go with the casual look we're into. But yesterday I decided rather than working against it, which seems pointless, I'd have to find a way to make it look good and that blue might just be the solution! Thanks!
Be confident in the fact you are not alone in your fixation! I am uncontrollably drawn to it, think I need Help! enjoy the hue…
ohhh… I have seen those pillows from Crate and Barrel ~~ love them ~~ so fun!
Oh Kate, how fun! I love all the images but am particularly humbled to see my very own little armoire on your fantastic blog. I have spent FAR too much time in your archives lately. I think I'm finding a kindred spirit. Have a wonderful Sunday.
Hugs,
edie
I loooove that clutch!! It is a great color. :)
I like blue (certain shades) but have not decorated with blue and am finding myself also smitten with these colors. I was itching to switch up the guest room until I found out we have to move so maybe I can use this color in the next house (if it is still popular by then and something else hasn't caught my eye). LOL
Peacock plumes, what an inspiration! We just painted one of our living spaces Vermeer by Ralph Lauren, which looks very close to the Deft Blue you have listed! Thank you for the inspiration spaces- I was leaning toward creams and naturals for the rest of the room and now I know I love it!
Beautiful! I love peacocks and their feathers. Not sure where they would fit in my house, although my dining room has some pretty rich colored curtains so maybe in there?

It really is such a pretty color. Love all of the pictures. Hugs, Marty
I think it is a very pretty color. I so hope you come over for the first ever KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT party-you would be a great contributor.
Sorry-I've been out of commission — terribly sick for over a week– but do you want to know how I cut my grocery bill in half? go to Cut your grocery bills now plus I have a give a way and a new Mr Linky party starting tomorrow but Mr Linky will be up by 8 p.m. tonight

Its So Very Cheri
Love the lamps! And the clutch…so cute!
I LOVE the color! Life on Grace was actually the inspiration for my game room console make over. http://treaures.blogspot.com/2009/07/sidewalk-sunday.html
Maybe it's fate, but I was getting up to write a post this morning about my fear of color. I LOVE color, and the deep turquoise family is one of my favorite colors. But I'm afraid to use it in my home. Apart from my stepdaughters room, every room of our home is varying shades of earth tones… or "safe" colors as I call them.
I have a beautiful new piece (low-boy) that I got last week. I've already began repurposing it into an entertainment center to sit under our flat screen that we are going to hang on the wall above it. I've removed a couple of drawers and converted them into shelves. But I haven't begun to sand it because I know I'll just paint it black, like every other piece of furniture in my living room.
I would love a suggestion from you! I'll be posting pics before the day is over on my blog.
http://www.ambitioushousewife.blogspot.com of my living room now, but there is already a photo of the lowboy on my last post. :)
I love the colors in all the photo's you choose, and I know whatever you decided to do in your home will be fab!
What a fun and creative post! I like the white decor with a pop of the peacock blue. I always thought that feather headpiece on Carrie in the SATC movie was a little much though, LOL! It was so Carrie though! ;)
So what did you end up doing w/your peacock feathers?
I love how you got so much inspiration to share with use from the peacock feathers. Makes me want to look at some of my favorite pieces to get color ideas to use for paint on my living room and foyer.
I love it paired with brown… but it has a very nice crisp-ness with white as well.
That is a gorgeous color, and you've found some beautiful photos, thanks for sharing!
Oh how funny, the first paint swatch is pretty much the exact color of my blog's layout! I think I'm in love with that velvet sofa.
I love that Claydon Blue swatch but just can't get into peacock blue. I did see a chartreuse color the other day that was calling my name though.
SWOON!
Beautiful! I love that color. i have a small can (maybe enough for one wall) of caribbean blue (like of like that baltic blue up there)….oooh, I can't wait to do a wall in that…when I actuall have my own house. Do I dare waste it now? And those blue couches!
One of my all time favorite colors! I LOVE those couches. Its hard to go wrong with that color. Today, I painted a chair that color. I'll post it soon.
I love the peacock feather's colors. Couple years ago my Christmas wrap was copper colored paper and green ribbon with little faux flatback gemstones I'd glue around the bow and a peacock feather eye tucked into the ribbon. It looked so exotic and fabulous. Thankfully my neighbor raises peacocks and when they molt she brings me bags full of feathers.
I've never been much of a lover of blue, however there are a few certain shades I love Lately I have an uncanny attraction to blues! I prefer more green in my blue and who doesn't love peacock feathers they're amazing.
My loft has been painted the same color as "image house beautiful photo 5" for a few years now and I love it! I've been contemplating a change in my living room from Benjamin Moore outdated fuchsia to a turquoise…but I think I may graduate the loft color down stairs after pondering these photos!! Thanks for that…great post as always!!
Wonderful color and I love these photos. I think I'd be too nervous to paint a wall that shade, but everything else, yes please!
Sometimes I worry that the duck egg blue will look cold in winter, but this shade has better year round appeal I think.
Ooh! We have a VERY similar blue on our living room wall, it was inspired by one of the rooms in the Emeryville IKEA. Link is below, please excuse the cellphone camera, the messy house, and the ugly butter walls that make the dark teal look more royal blue than it is.

i want to paint bedroom wall but what color in a bedroom would look good with this set
also what acccent colors should i use
I can’t believe this is the first time I have seen this post! You wrote this not even a week before my peacock themed wedding! I love that color of blue. I have it almost everywhere- our drapes, and sofas. I think I’ll find a really pretty gold shade to paint the walls to make the blue POP!
You must check out Homer Laughlin China Company’s website at http://www.hlchina.com for all of their peacock pieces. Also on ebay, there is a store called Hot Dishes. A guy named Steve sells fiestaware a good prices and his shipping is reasonable.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I have always loved turquoise, I’m glad it’s making such a splash this year!!!
My favorite color, and in fact the colors that inspired me with decorating my apartment, and I have one on my blog logo and on my desk top LOL ! Thoroughly enjoyed this post!
I just wrote my comments, and because I had not correctly inputed the above, it erased the whole thing! so, I will try again!
Just wanted to say I have love peacock blue since i was ten years old, raised on a wooded 2 acres with a landlady who raised peacocks. I learned to be friends with them and collected feathers which I still have a few of today. Do you know they never have lost their original brilliant color?
I am decorating with this theme in a new apt. and have found a few things at Pier One, esp a decor pillow. Any further ideas would be appreciated. i want to paint a lamp with metal base and basic canvas shade a peacock blue on base and mottled multi-color shade?
Love to have fun this way!
