A Day In The Life

By Kate Riley July 17, 2009

I happen to be one among millions of multitasking moms who never sits down during the day.  Funny as it sounds, for me it’s relaxing to stay busy, because I can’t relax until I’ve accomplished my tasks for the day.  Between my tiny law practice, raising two small children, cleaning my house, managing a growing blog and finding time for my projects, I have plenty to do.

The lovely, gracious, and creative Camila at High Heeled Foot in the Door (my most favorite blog name ever) is featuring me today in her series called “IN HER SHOES”.

For a glance at a day in my life…. please visit her inspiring blog at this link.

Are you as excited as I am for the premier of Design Star on HGTV?  It starts Sunday night.  I’ve never watched the show before, but this season I will because I love just love Vern, Genevieve, and Queen Candice.

Will you be watching too?

  1. I love it! Your day is much more interesting than mine, however sometimes I feel that I've been that busy! No date nights for me and my Mr, though. We cuddle on the couch and watch corny movies. :)

  2. ooh I'm looking forward to Design Star too. Can't wait! Love the post about your day on HHFITD!

  3. You are ridiculously amazing. Particularly the cavalier mention of "managing my small law practice."

  4. I love Design Star. But with your skills, momma, you may be sorely disappointed when you see what they do. Or, it just might have you dreaming big for next year :-)

  5. I love your blog and I LOVE you ,in a totally non-creepy kind of way haha. What a fun post over on Camilas blog.

I'm off to go read the rest of your blog from the beginning…guess I'm getting no work done this afternoon :)

  6. I loved your post – you pack a lot into each day. And I agree with Yolanda, you are probably more talented than some of the contestants on Design Star.

  17. you got the same coffee machine we have… :)

I felt on this blog a week ago, while browsing through girl's room inspiration. (Bella's room is more then gorgeous!)
I've read some of your DIY and I thank you for some tips!
Your day looks like mine.. replace the small law practice by commission wood painting, and the 2 children by a teething 1 year old (she now almost have 12 teeths! can you beleive it!). Oh, you reminded me I deseperatly need more shoes.
I actually created a blog, and I think it's all your fault ;) There's not much for now but I will add all my DIYs for my little one's room and other artsy stuff I'm doing. I also browse other's blog… There so many great stuff! How come I passed next to this that long?
anyway,I'll stop my novel there. I'll just add that I love HGTV too ;)

  18. I also juggle to balance life as a Mom and an artist. I loved hearing all about your day and being in your peep toe heels was fun. I adore Camila.
She is a sweetie-pie and I hope one day she has tons of kiddies.

  19. I love Design Star too! You'll probably sit there – like I do – muttering, "I can do better than that!" I also wait for the first one to say "I have never painted before" or "I have never used a drill before." Hello! DESIGN STAR???

  20. ok, those heels are HAWT! thanks for the real peek, the playroom looks like ours, the simple beauty routine in the morn = mine…I also love my iPhone, lemon drop martinis, and now I must try falafel :)

  21. I'm definitely excited about the upcoming Design Star!
What a fun peak into your typical day! I really enjoyed it. Lots going on! Your new shoes are just my style! ;)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  22. Ah, that was so much fun! I love "The Soup" too, as does my hub. We are trying to find a babysitter so we can take on a date night – we so need that! Great to read more about you after committing to stalking your blog for the past few months!

  23. Kate~ I loved reading about a day in your life. I love to know that you make the time to go on dates~so important! Your staircase blew me away too~absolutely fantastic! Go get yourself a good angled brush~I just have a feeling you would be a perfect non-tape painter. You seem like the steady hand type :)

  24. P.S. Your party on the 31st is making me sweat in my boots~I have a plan to get my project finished, but my laundry room is taking longer than I thought. I'm going to try though!

  25. I just read your In Her Shoes feature and enjoyed it so much! Your daughter's faces just killed me – they were so hilarious. I think you've got a budding star on your hands. It's also great to discover your blog (don't you just love the internet?)!
